(ART)visory board
THE VELVET ARTS PROJECT IS A COMMUNITY BUILDING PROJECT.
The ARTvisory Board is a collective of creatives (artists, storytellers, performers, and leaders) who want to help shape programming, initiatives, and community impact from the inside out.
We believe the most powerful work is created WITH community, not just for community.
We are looking for creatives who:
Identify within LGBTQ+ and/or Black or Brown communities, and allies.
Use art, culture, or storytelling as tools for change
Care deeply about community wellness and liberation
Want to collaborate, brainstorm, and build together.
Volunteers are essential to The Velvet Arts Project to carry out our programs. All volunteers must complete an initial orientation program and agree to abide by confidentiality regulations.
Current volunteer opportunities are available in the following programs:
CONDOM DISTRIBUTION
We need volunteers to help stuff condom packs for our bar/club raids and for special events.
BAR / CLUB TAKEOVERS
Several times a year we conduct “bar take-overs” - going to local bars and distributing safer sex materials.
SPECIAL EVENTS
We count on energetic, flexible, and professional volunteers who are committed to working with us to make our experiences a success! Volunteers will be asked to take on various responsibilities throughout an event including greeting guests, check-in, set-up and clean up, etc.
