Who We Are

  • Our work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: Creativity and Community connection can drive real change.

People are more likely to engage with care when it is delivered through spaces they trust and identities they recognize.

  • We center Culture, Community and Care…

Using creative expression to advance health equity, affirm Black and Brown LGBTQ+ communities, and transform outreach into joyful, stigma-free experiences that empower and connect.

  • The Velvet Arts Project was born from a simple truth: our communities deserve spaces that see us fully. Where culture, creativity, and care exist side by side. Rooted in the lived experiences of Black and Brown LGBTQ+ people, we emerged at the intersection of art, nightlife, and advocacy to address the urgent need for accessible, stigma-free HIV prevention and mental wellness.

What began as a passion project has evolved into a movement that uses performance, storytelling, and shared experience as tools for healing, education, and access… without judgement and without gatekeeping.

Today, The Velvet Arts Project continues to reimagine what outreach can look like. What sets us apart isn’t just our process… it’s the intention. Centering community leadership, celebrating identity, and build pathways to care that are as vibrant and dynamic as the people we serve.
